Full of excitement, with a few of questions on a piece of paper, we all went on a field trip to the Firehall on Carnarvon.
As we approached, the children spotted the fire truck and the firefighters from a distance. Stories and inquires arose and the excitement continued to build.
These are some of our discussions and discoveries:
* Firefighters wear boots to protect their feet from hard objects and from fire.
* Firefighters save:
Alfie "Cats that are stuck in a tree"
Trystan "People that had a car accident"
Byron "Buildings that are on fire", etc.
The firefighters explained to the children what they should do in a fire and the importance of practicing safety drills. Firefighter Tim reminded the children to talk to their families about their meeting place at home in case of an emergency.
All firefighters are ready to help in case of emergency and they all reminded the children that they work together with the police and the ambulances. We are all part of the same community and we are all willing to help the ones in need!
Let's work together to build a better, safer world.
