The children experienced the importance of water in painting with watercolours. Sarah said, “The more water you add to the colour, the lighter and paler it becomes.” Trystan added to Sarah's comment, "More colour and less water gives us a stronger, darker colour." We all enjoyed painting with watercolours and presented our drawings at the end.
ReplyDeleteComment from Kate: This is sounding like it built upon their learning in the unit they did a few months ago. What a wonderful way to draw on some connections. I wonder if they might like to explore ration (without a focus on the word unless they want to). They could do 1 drop of water to 5 drops paint = X colour (and make a strip of paper to show results). Then 2 drops water + 5 drops paint of the same colour makes Y colour etc. This sounds like something they are ready to explore given their comments and observations.
